Wycombe SMARTzone Boundary Change
From 31st August 2025, there will be a small change to the south-eastern boundary of Wycombe SMARTzone.
From this date, Bourne End and Wooburn will no longer be covered by Wycombe SMARTzone tickets. An updated version of the Wycombe SMARTzone map is available here.
This change will affect Carousel services 36 & 37. You can find full details on which stops will now form the boundary of Wycombe SMARTzone on their website.
Any customers impacted by this change will be able to continue to use their existing ticket up to and including 30th August 2025. From the 31st August, you’ll need to make sure you have a ticket which covers the Zones on the full length of your journey. For more details, please contact the relevant operator.

What is Wycombe SmartZone?
Wycombe SmartZone allows you to travel on all Carousel, Redline, Red Rose and Red Eagle bus services within the designated zone, in and around High Wycombe.
You no longer need separate tickets when connecting between different operators’ buses, making your travel even more simple, flexible and convenient.
The Wycombe SmartZone scheme is a partnership between Carousel Buses, Redline, Red Rose, Red Eagle and Buckinghamshire Council with all parties helping to fund and establish the scheme with the aim of simplifying and improving bus travel for everyone in High Wycombe.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I buy a ticket?
If you only want to travel for a day, you can buy your ticket directly from the driver by asking for a SmartZone Day Ticket or Group Day Ticket. You can pay with cash, contactless debit or credit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
If you want to travel for longer, tickets are also available on the Carousel Buses, Redline, Red Rose and Red Eagle smartphone apps, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Click here to download your chosen app.
What do I do if I have problems with my ticket?
If you have any issues with your ticket, please get in touch with the company you purchased it from (either Carousel, Redline, Red Rose or Red Eagle).
How do I use the app on the bus?
Before you board the bus, you need to activate your ticket. Once you have done this, the app will display a QR code on your smartphone screen. This needs to be scanned on the bus ticket machine when you board.

Important: once you activate your ticket, you have 20 minutes to scan it on the ticket machine before it will expire and the QR code will disappear. We recommend not activating the ticket until you can see the bus coming.
Can I use my SmartZone ticket to travel with a friend?
Yes, if you purchase a multi-trip ticket! On the app, when you select “Activate” you can tap the + and – buttons to select the number of people travelling. For example, if you select 2 passengers, 2 of your stored trips will be activated and removed from your wallet.
Are there discounts for young people?

How long do I have to use my passes after I purchase them?
All products must be activated and used within 6 months of purchase.
